We have 12 days booked going to Moab UT & Cedar City UT the end of July, first on Aug. Who has done this trip? Is it going to Hot has Haiti's? Will it be as bad as Phoenix in July? I am starting to have second thoughts....Any in put, tips are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

It will be hot. The next 10 days in Moab look like this. It will probably be just as hot when you are there.

We just got back from a Denver/Moab/Cortez loop. Moab was HOT! temps during the day were over 100 and my fridge failed to keep food cold. We had a 7 day cooler along and bought 10 pound cubes of ice daily. Arches is hot by 10 AM and really hot by noon. Bring lots of water. We bought a 36 pack of water bottles and carried several per person for the hikes. Get to Arches gate before 7 or earlier to get in free and not be locked out due to over full conditions. Don't forget sunscreen.

We stayed at Dowds Flats because everywhere else was full. Yep, called and called. Dowds was not great. Just a gravel site with water, electric and sewer plus quarter showers that I would not use. $52 a night, cash or check, no cards. Go to City Market (Krogers) for food, ice and gas. Lots of places to eat in town are open.

Go to Gearheads Outdoor store, just across the street to the south of City Market, with your empty 5 gallon water container and fill it for free with filtered drinking water.
