Walmart and Cracker Barrel

Just wondering how you all feel about spending the night at either one of these places. We will be traveling a lot this summer and will probably stay at a couple of these. Other than calling to make sure you can stay, has anyone really had any issues?

We haven't parked at either one, but you do want to make sure they're in a better neighborhood, and not in a higher crime area. If the manager doesn't let you know, a call to the local PD in the area will tell you.

We have stayed in quite a few Walmarts. 1st, I pick a Walmart in the area were I expect to park or the night. Then look at it thru google maps satellite imaging and see how it is laid out, Are there safe places to park? If I am happy with it, then I call and speak to a manager for permission to spend the night.

You might want to look at this site: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...1006456267&z=6

We've stayed at Walmarts many times. They like you to park in the furthest parts of the parking lot. Sometimes those places can be a little rowdy. It's surprising how much activity you see when you are staying there. There have been some Walmarts we have had the best sleep of our trip. There was one near Buffulo, NY that was so quiet and tranquil. If you can try not to stay at one that is in the middle of business areas.

Walmart lots of times no issues. Only pick ones in safe areas. You can tell by the surrounding area. Cracker Barrel never tried. Ones I see are always to crowded with customers to think about pulling rig into. Also look at first rest area’s when crossing into states. They are usually nicer with visitors centers. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

I have stayed in camp Walmart a few times. Only once did we have an issue, it was very annoying but fully understandable. It happened to be the night they scheduled to sweep the parking lot. They too have to do their maintenance.

It sounded like he was driving ultra close to the sides of the TT (HTT turtling). But I know he was not, as there were Big 5vers on each side of us. It just seamed like he kept going around and around us, over and over and over.

I travel a fair amount for work, and have stayed at a lot of small towns. I have found the outstate Walmart's usually in good areas of the town. On the other hand, inner city Walmart's in large cities, I would not stay at. To much riffraff, even if the neighborhood looks good.

Hey Trapper. As a former truck driver I would ask you NOT to park overnight at the rest areas. Truck parking is a REAL problem, and truck drivers, by law, can only drive 11 hours a day, and they can't go out of route to go HUNT a parking space. A lot of truck drivers have got HEFTY fines because RV's have taken up a lot of the parking spaces in rest areas, and they were forced to drive on illegally hunting a place to park.
