Washington State Parks Potential Shutdown

For those who may have reservations or plans to visit Washington State Parks and are not aware of the current State budget negotiation issues it is possible that starting on June 30th the parks will be closed due to partial state government shutdown . Here is a link to an informational alert on the parks website that provides details including refund details if needed:

Possible Government Shutdown | Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission

Hopefully this will get worked out and no shut down will occur and we can all enjoy the reservations we've made....

I have not heard about the budget issues but the state has just issued a camp fire ban in all state parks.

"As of today, State Parks are under a Level 4 – Extreme fire ban or higher. A Level 4 ban means that fires are restricted to gas and propane self-contained camping stoves. No charcoal or wood fires will be allowed—even in State Parks designated fire rings. In addition, as a further precaution, gas and propane may be used for cook stoves only."

They are reporting yesterday a budget was agreed to. Hopefully this is correct and this problem won't rear its head.

Both the local papers here are reporting the same thing so it does sound like this will be resolved by June 30th and no shut down will occur. Not surprised about the state-wide fire ban - it is really dry with little to no relief in site for a while.

Thank goodness! I have reservations for Camp Disappointment the week of July 5th. Wish I was there now. The 80-90 degrees temps are brutal this week. Most of us in Western Washington don't have air conditioning. Temps are 60's at the beach. Perfect camping weather.

We were at Cape Disappointment the middle of June - temps still around 60 then but rather windy. Still a really great place to spend some time. We've got reservations later in the week of the 5th down by St. Helens. I'm guessing we'll be running the A/C on this trip...
