Where to stay near Glacier National Park?

Hello all,
In the planning stages for an Aug. trip and we are not sure where to stay? Need hook ups so inside the park is not an option. Anyone know of a cant miss CG with hook ups or RV park. Would like to keep it as close to nature as possible. Nicely wooded and simple.
TV is Silverado and TT is x23b
Glacier campground? Mountain meadow RV park? East side vs. West
Any info is much appreciated!

Don't recall the name, but we stayed at the KOA on the west side. It was very nice, lots of trees, some area were fairly open. Not a far drive into the park.

Only thing I did not like, they put us across from where all the big diesel pushers were located, and they liked to get going very early, and liked to warm up their engines for a long time. In a 23B it was too loud for me. Woke me up every morning. Other than that 30 minutes every morning the place was great.

We went to Glacier last summer. There are 2 nice KOA campgrounds, one on east side in St Mary and the other on the west side in West Glacier.

I recommend splitting your time between the two sides of the park. It is a big area and you will spend a lot of time driving from one side of the park to the other.

We loved West Glacier. To us it had the John Candy Great Outdoors vibe to it. But the east side, St Mary and Two Medicine had the best hiking, Grinnell Glacier, etc.

We stayed at Johnson's in St Mary a few years ago. Nice campground and a good cafe.

Thanks for the info all ! After doing some more research we are booked at Glacier CG. Less than 1 mile from park entrance on west side. Looks very wooded/private and cant beat the price.
