We're close to Windsor, three hours west of Toronto. Last year we did a stop over at Earl Rowe provincial park and then up to Awenda provincial park. Awenda is also very nice and lots to do in Midland area. I,m now thinking of doing the stop over in Earl Rowe and up to Algonquin because I don't care about driving more than 4 or 5 hours a day.

Your fortunate to be up that way, there is a lot of nice provincial parks within a couple of hours. We liked charlston lake and balsum lake when we were there years ago. I see they don't have winter camping.

We camped in Charleston lake provincial park with our son about twenty years ago in our funcraft camper van. When you go you might want to try renting one of their canoes on their lake. It all seemed so different for us to paddle up on the island shorelines where the ground was all flat solid stone and not mud or sand. I can still remember the scenery, very beautiful clean water and calm for canoeing.

Now you got me wanting to go back up that way. I just hate the thought of driving through Toronto with our trailer. A stop over night at Earl Rowe on the way to bon echo would make a good diversion I guess.

If your passing through toronto during the week try to do it for 10-11 in the morning seems to be the least traffic. And I have a 19 ft bowrider so i will spend most of my time on the lake. There was actually 1 site I wanted that is right on the lake and it looks like I can beach my boat there so that's the site I want

Thanks, i'll keep that in mind. How is the 407 instead of 401, I know its a toll road but is it less stressful? I forgot how far away bon echo is for me. Might just stick to my original plan of stopping at Earl Rowe overnight and then up 400 to Algonquin instead of going to bon echo.

no worries, its got more interesting anyways, we may not go away now, the wife is not feeling that great

407 is not too bad but what i dont like is when you get stuck in traffic when you are paying to be on it, it generally only happens when there is an accident but it still sucks, you just have to know the off hours, and bon echo is only 2ish hours from me, so tops 5 hours from you, its worth the drive probably be more worth it if your going for a week or an extended long weekend

i tried sibbald point this summer as well, during the week it was great but was no fun on the weekend, too many idiots from the city
