That sucks. Have a trip planned there in June. I hope this mess is in the rear-view mirror by then.

I don’t know about you, Dan, but we have reservations strung out from here to there and back. If Yellowstone is closed it will be like falling dominoes . Hope for the best!

That’s gonna be cutting it close for us! We were scheduled to leave N TX on June 20th!

Campground or lodge? The parks should be open by the time you arrive but the lodges are not going to open

Are the roads through the park still going to be open. We have a res in West Yellowstone prior to the 15th. I can handle the gift shops and other structures being closed if we can still drive into and still be in the park.

Same question here. Planning to be there in early June. The normal summer crowds at YNP are bad enough. I’m concerned the NPS will panic and keep it closed all summer.

I had 4 days reservation in Yosemite in May. Yesterday they canceled the reservation. I know that this is not the end of the world (we are healthy, have jobs, etc.), but still it is very disappointing.

Personally, I do not agree with such strict restrictions in places like national parks (vs. as an example subway in NYC), but I know that there are different point of view.

This was my second cancellation after one in April. I have another one in May in Half Moon Bay, CA. We will see how it goes with this one.

By the way, Pinnacles National Park campground has been open in the last couple of weeks and we scored 3 nights there.

Happy camping!

It appears the Wyoming entrances to Yellowstone are opening May 18th. The park is still working with the Montana governor on opening from the Montana side. And of course Montana still has the 14-day quarantine for visitors. Here’s the release: https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/news/20015.htm

Great Find! I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. But I'll need them to open the West entrance, as I'll be staying in ID.

We’re in the same boat as we were planning to stay in West Yellowstone. I called the Montana governor’s office this afternoon — staffer told me it is possible the west entrance may open on June 1st, but they have no timeline for lifting the mandatory 14-day quarantine for out-of-staters. That’s Phase 3. They are in Phase 1 now. She was not very encouraging.

I’ve got a res in West Yellowstone starting on the 5th, but thinking of cancelling now and moving it to Cody.

It appears the Montana Governor is implementing Phase 2 of reopening and lifting the traveler quarantine as of June 1st. Here is the specific language: “ Effective June 1, the provisions of the March 30 Directive requiring quarantine for non-work-related arrivals in Montana will no longer be in effect.” News story: https://www.mtpr.org/post/gov-announ...anas-reopening

Just saw this too. Thanks. I just booked in Dubois, WY. Now to decide if I cancel that or not. Definitely cheaper than the place I booked in West Yellowstone, but a ways away.

We have reservations at Coulter Bay in June. They are open for camping, but Jenny lake lodge, and Jackson Lake lodge will not open this year. The restaurants may or may not be open for dinning room eating, but should be open for take out at least. Just be sure to bring plenty of food and adult beverages, and you should be able to enjoy your trip! We're looking forward to it.
