Both the neighbor and I have run into this, we can run our Jayco travel trailer's A/C in our driveway @4200 feet, but not at higher elevations with a single Honda eu2000i. Higher elevations have lower air pressure and less oxygen. Less air pressure and less oxygen equal less horsepower from any engine. This might be why some can run their A/C with one 2000 watt generator and others cannot. I have never tried a single generator at lower elevations. I now have the Honda Gen set. Just my thoughts on the subject.

This is interesting, I did not realize you could run the ac on one 2000 watt genny. How many watts does it take to run a 15k unit after it is started? That size generator is only 1600 watt constant run so Im guessing it would be running close to maximum.

The Airexcel site says the 15kBTU AC unit pulls 1560W when running. So, yes, the Honda 2000 is probably maxed out on the AC at lower altitude, even with a start capacitor upgrade.

Remember, if you are plugging your 30A cord into the generator the converter is also running so some residual loads in the trailer are pulling some current too.
