Day one we went from Iowa to Sand Hills state park in Kansas. Day two took us to Trinidad state park Colorado. Spent a beautiful week there. Made it over Raton Pass with no problem. Spent last night at Santa Rosa state park New Mexico. Spending tonight at the Grant KOA. Having a grand time. Flagstaff tomorrow, then Gila Bend for A few days.

Made it from Gila Bend to the long term visitors area near the Yuma Proving Grounds. Settling in for a 6 month stay or until the heat drives us north. Solar, dual 12 volt storage, generator back up, and close enough to facilities to make sanitation and refills doable. Being a veteran, we'll be able to use the facilities on base for shopping, gas, etc. Even managed to get a tolerable phone/data plan for internet access. Looking forward to the challenges. Keeps me young

Curious why you would indicate to put the disconnect in the ground leg.

The main reason is a safety reason, if you put the cutoff on the ground leg you do not care if the cable hits anything. If you disconnect the Positive leg, and it drops and hits something that is grounded (or the frame) it will create a few arcs and sparks and maybe melt a few things.
This is meant more for when cables are disconnected

I thought that might be the case. I haven't seen a trailer wired that way though. Mine is wired into the positive side and when I reworked it all I did it the same. I do work carefully though if I'm disconnecting the batteries for some reason

Loving life at the BLM Long Term Visitors area. Seen some pretty interesting set ups and gear. Everyone seems to have their preferred method of maintenance and chores. Pretty cool, pretty peaceful. Meeting some interesting people too.

Hi we live outside Phoenix, there is a company in Flagstaff Northern AZ Wind @ Sun.They have a friendly website and if you call them lots of free information on Solar. If you need your microwave we use a Honda 2000.May not need AC now but latter. If you have 13500 ac unit a 3000 Honda will run it. If 15000 we use two Honda 2000, 50 lbs each easier to move around.Enjoy Arizona Happy Trails!
