Australian Style Caravans
Heard from a buddy that used to work with me the other day. He'd been looking for a good boondocking camper at the time he'd left about a year ago. He & his wife really like to get out there but hadn't found anything they felt like was up to the task so they have been using a roof-top tent. I guess they got tired of the zippers and just picked up one of these:

Looks like those Aussie caravans are here now - Black Series apparently started selling in the US last November, headquartered in LA. They have "flipped" the layouts for the US market so the door is on the "right" side. Looking at the specs for these as I would expect they tend to be a bit heavy - this HQ15 model my buddy got is about 22' overall with dry weight of ~4700 and a GVWR of 6K. The two larger models both have 10K GVWR's.
Not sure what my friend is towing it with - when he left he had a Toyota Tacoma. Hoping to catch up with him again in a few weeks when they come in out the of wilderness for a bit and we're back from our upcoming southern Utah trip.
