Battery at 12.9 volts

I purchased a Progressive dynamics pd9245 for my two 6 volt batteries. The wire going to the batteries is 2 gauge and about 3-4 ft of wire to the batteries. When charging the batteries, the converter stays on boost mode a long time. Even days but the amps are very low. Only a couple amps if that. There are no other battery draws because I have the disconnect switch off. I unplugged the charger one morning before going to work and came home to 12.9 volts. I am getting the reading on my trimetric 2030. Does that seem right? I will put the converter into normal mode and a few hours later it will be back into boost mode. I have taken my meter and checked voltage at the batteries and the converter and everywhere in between read all the same. Not sure if this converter is working correctly.

That seems to me to be a bit high... My 12V battery bank seems to follow this chart pretty close..

I have seen 12.7 a few times...

This is reading from my battery terminals with the shore power or generator OFF and after the battery has settled down abit from being charged...

my PD9260C when on Shore Power or generator puts out 13.6VDC, 14.4VDC. and 13.2VDC when ON with no loads pulling anything...

You can get a somewhat higher than normal reading if the charger is still hooked up to the battery, and the same for a few hours after the charger has been disconnected.

Progressive's are programmed to kick off of boost after 4 hours. At least mine is. To stay on boost for days doesn't sound right at all. I have 430 amp hours of batteries hooked up to my 60 amp Progressive. If I have a heavily discharged battery pack, it requires me to manually reset the converter to boost again to get my batteries recharged to 90%. Your progressive will go into boost mode 15 minutes out of every 24 hours. Suppose to help equalize the batteries

Yes the boost stays on for a few days at 14.4 volts but the amps are 3 amps or less. When I checked the volts, the charger was shut off for over 12 hours and the batteries were at 12.9 volts. Might have to call progressive dynamics and ask them.

There is definitely something wrong if that converter stayed at 14.4 volts for days. I would check my battery water levels. Thats high enough, long enough to start boiling away fluid. No way should that Progressive should stay in boost mode anywhere near that long.

I checked my water levels today. They still looked good. Decided to plug the converter in to see what it would do. Went straight to boost then later it went to normal mode. Left it alone all day and just checked it again and it's back in boost mode. We'll see what it's doing in the morning.

What I did notice when the converter was in normal mode, the trimetric 2030 had a neg amp draw on it. Not sure why that is.
