boondock for one night
heading to gulfshores in june. goal is to make it to s.e. Arkansas and spend one night at wm parking lot. worried it might be a little warm out.
Can I run a couple of 110 fans on a portable inverter hooked up to the group 27 battery and a extension cord ran inside? will that work overnight or will it drain the battery to far?

If it is a standard 85Ah RV/Marine battery (2) 110VAC fans would probably do it in by morning. You can do a test run starting one morning and run the fans from morning to night and check the battery voltage through out the day.. You can only discharge your 12 Volt battery, believe it or not, to 12.0 (50% rule) or you will be shortening its life.

Depends on the draw of the fan and the power ability of the inverter. You'd be better off with 12v fans so that you don't suffer from the loss going from 12v to 110.

We use 2 of these that work GREAT. They actually run on 8 "D" batteries, but I rewired them to run either on the TT's 12VDC or off of 110VAC transformers. Running off the "D" batteries will get you a couple nights.

Like Don, we have two 12v fans; one like he posted and one clip-on fan that pivots back and forth.
We have 2 group 24 batteries and haven't haven't measured the fan current draw and have not needed to run the fans overnight.

Just got to thinking, ill probably never use those 12v fans again.
Do you know of any camp grounds around Lake City, AR. We would pull in around 11 at night and up and going by 6 or 7.

WALMART carries the O2COOL 11-inch AC/DC/D Batteries fan. I use them all the time in my off-road trailer... They run a pretty long time just using the D-Cells...
These are the greatest
One big caution if you are going to use a 120VAC fan like the infamous 20-inch box fan from WALMART you must use a PSW Inverter to power it up... The cheaper MSW type Inverters will over-heat the fan motor big time. I burned one up doing this...
This might be a good time to purchase a good PSW Power Inverter large enough to run you fan and your home entertainment items... AMAZON has the 600W PSW AIMS Power Inverter for $140 now... That is what I use for off grid use of many small wattage things...

First invest in a true deep cycle battery. Then install a fantastic fan in the overhead bathroom vent covered with a Maxair cover. Set to exhaust the F fan will pull air in to the sections of the RV that you wish to cool down. Also open the vent and a couple windows on the side of the camper while you are traveling and that will keep the RV from heating up during the day. Drive until dusk so you will be hitting the RV in the evening when the temps are cooling down.
