Dispersed location recommendations in the Black Hills

Hey there,
My fiance and I are in the process of planning our honeymoon trip that will start May 14th!
Our destination is going to be somewhere near Yellowstone (so if you have any great boondock locations out there please share those as well!) and we are thinking of spending a night or two in the Black Hills of SD on the way out.
Does anyone have a favorite spot they have stayed?
We have a Designer 3310 5th wheel so we won't be able to get too rugged, but we would like to be fairly secluded. That's the whole point of boondocking, right?!
If you have pictures that would be an amazing bonus!!

Thanks, Josh.

I don't remember seeing any boondocking in the Black Hills and we were there for the whole summer.. topography and private land ownership is the issue.. Some nice campgrounds in Custer Park but not sure if they can handle that large of a rig.. May have to go to a private campground rather than state.

congratulations on your marriage. !

Congratulations! Iam assuming your from upsala MN, not to far from my parent's place. I store my htt in Sobieski.

I cannot help with boondocking out that way. Farther west you go more federal land you will find. Montana appears to have a lot.

If you decide to say a night or two in the badlands NP, find your campsite right away, then go see the siteseeing. We love the Custer area, I could spend area we there every summer.

Congrats from the Twin Cities!

I can't help you with any boondocking locations but if you decide to stay at Custer we like two private campgrounds: Fort Welikit and Big Pine.

Although we did not do boondocking here, we did enjoy Badlands National Park - Cedar Pass Campground.

In and around Yellowstone, make your reservations as soon as possible.

I know Arizona is not on your list, most of the state is Federal land.Don't think we paid to camp for the first 10 years! Happy Trails
