EJS - Boondocking - how Retiree's offset the high fuel prices

So now that all the JOF threads about fuel prices are getting forcibly closed for various reasons... How do those who are on a fixed income survive to travel in these times with diesel prices over $7.00 a gallon - and then afford all the other increases in travel expenses it takes to maintain the RV Lifestyle?

Well - Boodocking (Instead of $80-100 a night RV park fees) are one alternative for those who have prepared their rig for those kinds of travel.

We - personally are going to spend a week in Moab doing the 100% Boondocking thing with a bunch of friends...

Not all places are like Moab... but we posted that we are going, but that thread got closed too... Who's heading to Moab for EJS?

Just out of curiosity, but what is EJS? We're on the east shore. and haven't heard of it...I don't think.

Easter Jeep Safari. I boondocked there at that time a few years ago, and there are lots of people, lots of jeeps and general excitement. I camped north of town, on the east side of the highway, state land.

Thanks, I appreciate the clarification. I was trying to equate it to some holiday. It wasn't working.

Like many I will be boondocking as much as possible. Great way to still see the country and off set fuel prices. Next step for me is to look seriously into solar on roof. Spending thousands to stay for months at a time in RV parks is history. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

MOAB bound Saturday morning!

Yea don't even tell me that fuel is now $7.19/ gallon for diesel (just 25miles west of us in California). We are not going to California, nor going to Disney either.

Those Seneca owners who are going to EJS, we will be in the Dalton Wells area... you won't miss us, camp has already started to get set up. If you see the FJ in camp, don't hesitate to come by for a beer!

Have fun SloPoke. Moab and the surrounding area has been a favorite place of mine for the last 25 years, starting when I was able to ride my mountain bike on the Slick Rock trail. Rode it twice one day when I was feeling invincible. Sorry to say, those days are over.

It saddened me to read that the Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite was damaged by a construction crew.

https://www.sltrib.com/news/environm...r%20Tracksite.

It's just across the highway from Dalton Wells. Check it out. Take some pics and post them here if you can. I saw the tracks several years ago, and it was incredible. There's also a dinosaur trail nearby with dino bones embedded in rocks along the trailside. Very cool!
