Kim Gass you only have a 8000 BTU A/C your 2000 watt Honda will run that, so you should be OK in the heat.

I have heard various start up wattage needs ranging from 1700-2300. If it doesnt work it doesnt work.. We've camped where the low is 82 in a tent and lived. Didn't like it but lived

I recently picked up a 2000 watt Champion and testing it with the AC in our 195RB it seems to be fine. I have a Kill-o-Watt meter and haven't seen it spike much about 1200-1300 watts when kicking in. We also picked up a 12v Fantastic Endless Breeze fan as well. It's quieter than the fan-only mode on the AC and doesn't require shore power.

I use this unit as well,up where we are, A/C is really not needed. I picked my unit up at home depot for $458 on sale. It's a great unit, very quiet except when we run the microwave.

If we want A/C down the road them we just pick up another unit and run them parallel. I try to keep on eye on weight since I pull with a half ton and a 28ft trailer doesn't leave much for payload.

I see CampingWorld.com has the Champion 2000 Watt Inverter Generator 73540i on sale for under $500 w free shipping.

2000 Watt Inverter Generator with USB - Champion Generators 73540I - Portable Generators - Camping World

I'd be using to recharge battery, after it dies powering my furnace.

I need something light -- I'm small. This generator weighs 48.5 pounds. I'll be putting it on some kind of cart/dolly.

Can anyone comment on this generator's suitability for my situation? User reviews? Thanks.

I ponied up for the better engine in the Yamaha. Generators run for long periods of time. There is a reason Honda and Yamaha inverter generators are more expensive. Pay now or pay later, as they always say.

I picked one of these up in February and so far I'd say it's been so-so. It does run everything I need it to run and is fairly quiet. However, when I was first breaking it in it went through a lot of fuel - a gallon in only about 3 1/2 hours and wouldn't handle much load at all. I called Champion a couple of times before somebody there finally hit on something - the choke cable was not adjusted properly from the factory. It was too tight so the choke was still somewhat engaged even when it was pushed all the way in. Once I adjusted it properly it started running like I would expect it to.

I purchased a Honda 3000iS inverter generator when they were on sale before Christmas. I have not had a chance to use it but one of the main factors besides being on sale was the run time spec of 20 hours @ 1/4 load.
