Glamis Sand Dunes Camping

Just returned from a trip to Glamis Sand Dunes in Southern California. Took some shots from my drone. Heading back there for Thanksgiving. Have been going there for 40+ years starting in vans then campers then motor homes. Boondocking for sure as there are definitely no hookups.

What memories your pics brought back!!! I relocated from San Diego to the mid west in 1981. Back then, from October to April, almost every other week end and long holidays, we traveled to the Superstitions (El Centro), or Gordon Wells and / or Glamis - dirt bikes, atv's and buggies, (much different equipment back then - LOL). If we'd had drones back then, our group camping would have looked much like your pics, albeit a lot fewer vehicles, we were often the only group camp within in a given area, back then no travel restrictions or off road registrations - the good 'ole days??

Maybe some day but living 5 minutes from the Oregon Dunes I’m kinda spoiled. We do go to St Anthony’s every other year. We have a large group we dune with from all over, people from OR, WA, CA, ID, KS and Canada fun times.

Dunes

Just drove by Glamis a few days ago. Finishing a 4200 mile trip from SoCal thru Utah Nevada Colorado Nebraska South Dakota then south ahead of some nasty weather, thanks to Slopoke, RustyNuts and others on advice. Couple could nights, kept two ceramic heaters on low one in wetbay and other on rear compartment that flows over to water heater area and with remote thermometers kept at about 45 degrees. Glamis is the SoCal capitol of boomdockers with sand toys.

Glamis is my favorite place! Especially on a quad! Raised my kids out there.

I hear you. We were there a week ago and may be going again President's Day.

We also raised our kids there and now it is the grandkids that are taking point. Time has slipped by so fast. Seems like just yesterday we had our newborn son out there and now the grandkids are riding 450s.

So true! Those years just flew by! Haven't been there in a while now since everybody is grown and none of us live nearby anymore, we lived in San Diego.
I heard the fees went way up too :-(

Current fees if you purchase before getting there are $150 for the season or $35 for a week. I think the weekly price is $50 if you buy onsite.
