No power from solar panels

Hi Guys,

I am camping with hookups. I had some incident with shore power which I described in travel trailer section. Generally, I lost shore power and needed to reset my magnum charger inverter (I guess this was reset) to get shore power back.

However, my morning star solar controller shows all the time "night". I tried to use the reset button on the controller, but it did not help.

Do you have any idea what the reason for the "night" status can be?

Thanks!

I would assume that the controller determines night/day based on if there is any output from the panels. I would measure the voltage of the panels where they enter the solar controller.

Thanks! This is what I thought... This is not a project for me then. Fortunately, I restored shore power, so solar is not critical now.

Check all the fuses from the solar panel to the charge controller to the batteries to the inverter... its either that or "feedback" from the 110 problem damaged something. You are using a quality surge guard of some kind right?

You may want to totally disconnect your SOLAR panels from the SOLAR Charge controller and then disconnect the SOLAR Charge Controller from the batteries. IF it has AC charging capabilities disconnect it from 110VAC supply. If it is like my charge controller this is the only way to get it a TRUE re-boot. Then reconnect the batteries followed by the SOLAR panels.

Give it a try

Thanks Guys! With help from Solar Mike (the installer of the system, referral from Seann), the system started working again. I do not know the name of the thing on this picture, but when you push the red button, a small "arm" is hanging down. It was hanging when I looked at this after the "incident". I needed to push it back.

Happy camping!

Thank you! Artur
