Portable 12 volt refrigerator/cooler

Does anybody have any recommendations for a portable 12 volt refrigerator/cooler that doesn't cost a small fortune? I bought one from Bouge RV and ended up returning it because it didn't work properly. Went back and forth with their customer service trying to troubleshoot it and they finally suggested that I return it. I am looking for one that has a freezer compartment and refrigerator compartment. Would like one that runs on 12 volt and 110 volt.

Not knowing what size you are looking for, this brand has decent input from consumers, outside of the standard reviews. They make one that has the freezer compartment and then the smaller model has the combination cooler-freezer unit. Cheap is not always good, and good is not always cheap, of course cheap being everyone's perspective.

Looking for something around 38 quarts and less than 40 lbs. The Alpicool sounds like it is prone to the same problems that I had with the Bouge RV cooler. I would like to get something decent for under $400. I wouldn't use it enough to justify spending $800 plus.

Its been my experience that most of these units in the price range that you are speaking about have similar components with a different name. The only thing that I have found different is the quality and amount of insulation.

I have a Dometic CFX3 45 liter refrigerator/freezer and it works great. It uses a 12/120 volt compressor and can freeze down to -10 degrees F or run at 40 degrees F. It uses very little electricity at 12 volts. 100ah gel battery will last about 20 hours. It cost about $900.00

I use a couple 100 watt solar panels to extend the battery life.
