Upcoming Colorado Trip....Any Locals (or campers) able to provide status of areas

We are heading towards Colorado from AZ. Leving this Saturday (5/16/15) and are planning on being in / around Durango and Pagosa Springs for a week, then heading towards Gunnison / Crested Buttte for a week.

Anyone have any insight as to that the "off the beaten path" roads are like this time of year in those areas?

TT - 2015 Whitehawk 28DSBH

Thanks in advance!
Chris

Can't really help, but be sure to check on the passes etc. if your are going that high. It recently snowed in Denver.

Please post what YOU find; we're heading roughly the same direction in early July.

I will definately post what we find on the trip. We try to get to those areas at least once a year.....Thi sis the first time we are taking a trailer though. All previous trips have been tent and VRBO homes.......So weather wasnt as much of an issue. Not to mention we are travelling with 2 Australian Shepherds and 2 Border Collies.......Nothing gets rid of that new camper smell quite like wet dog.

Well, Based on the latest weather report (Telluride and Ouray getting up to 12" of snow this weekend at elevation), it looks like Durango may be the "highest" point we get to. Found a few spots via google earth that look promising on National Forest West of Durango.

Hi!

Be sure to check cotrip.org or cdot for road conditions. Wolf Creek Pass is currently reporting dry conditions. Stop at the hot springs if you get the chance. We camped last year at West Fork Campground, and the host was awesome. Super clean bathrooms for pit toilets. It's just beautiful. Have a great trip!

I"m betting they are home already ! LOL Left on the trip 5/16. but your correct on cotrip.org. Wolf creek is a really good 4 lane road, I have ridden it on my Motor Cycle while snowing and while scarey in the snow, the road is good and no big drop offs to worry about.
