West of Kirkwood, CA

Our first official camping trip was boondocking with family. I thought that the wife a daughter would not care for it, but with the new to us trailer they both enjoyed it very much.

We went the weekend of Sept 30 - Oct 2

The location is about 5 miles West of Kirkwood, CA just off highway 88. There is no official name to the camping area but it is forest service with a bunch of great trails.

Had a great time with my family and no bears (that we know of)

Ted,

Looks like a nice spot......, sure is great to break away from pulling out shore line cables, water hoses, filters, sewer hoses, TV cables, etc..

Looks like a nice spot for that first trip. The trailer looks good too.

It is a nice spot and a nice break from having to pull everything out, but the wife and daughter are just not into the boondocking, they want all the comforts of home. Me, I like to get away from it all once in awhile.

Hey, i recognize this area, looks like its near the overflow area for the silver lake campground. My wife and i lived at kirkwood 1970 and 1971, the first year hiway 88 was open year round. Keep heading west more great boondocking.
