120v or 220v

Hello Friends,
I just bought a brand new White Hawk 27DSRL. It comes with the 30amp electrical system. I would like to install a 30amp outlet in my garage so I can power up the trailer on my driveway. If anyone has a 30 amp outlet, can you tell me if it is wired as a 220V or 120V outlet? If it is 120V, do you still need to use a "double-wide" single switch circuit breaker? I have a Square D electrical box and have room for either, But I don't want to spend time and money wiring the outlet incorrectly.
Thank you.
Glen

It is 120 volts and you only use a single pole 30 amp breaker.

Black to the breaker, white to neutral and bare copper to ground.

There is no 220v used in a rv. If you can't figure it out, I would recommend getting someone who does know to show you.

The diagrams offered are correct but don't take a chance and do some frying in the the rig until you are sure.

norty1, you know better than that. 50 amp units have 220V. Though most use it as two 120V circuits. Some 5th wheels and Class A's have a cloths dryer. It uses 220V.

The poster is talking about a 30a pedestal. No 220v anywhere near that!

You don't have to install 30 amp outlet right away. I have one, but use a 12ga extension cord which is plugged into 20 amp/ 120v garage outlet. The reason is that i have two giant dogs running on the backyard. Once before, they pulled on the cord and broke a plastic cover. After that I got an extension cord which is plug to the trailer cord through an adapter . The trailer is plugged 24/7 to keep the battery full. Sometimes, kids watch tv and run ac same time. There is no problem. You just can't run microwave , hot water heater and ac all together. The breaker will trip and the cord might get overheated. But to maintain the battery and get the fridge cold for a couple of days before a trip, it is good enough.

Thank you for your replys. If it is not a 220v system I may use the 120v 20 amp service I have. At least until I decide if a dedicated 30A service is in my best interest.

Glen the only way you would really need a 30A plug in your driveway is if you plan to use the A/C while there.. otherwise save the $$$ and just use the regular plug on the house..
