'16 Seismic Wave Awning popping in the wind

Not sure a better way to explain it but this is the 2nd summer we've had the 5er and when we stay at a campground on the ocean in SC, it gets a little windy. Not too windy to have your awning out, everyone else has theirs out.

The gas shock design seems to be great so that it doesn't just rip off with a big gust of wind, however when the wind picks up a little the awning lifts up and the shock forces it back down, causing the canopy to pop. Not only is it annoying but I'm sure it's hard on the canopy.

Is the best option to just use a couple of tie downs to hold the canopy down? The other thing I don't care for is how straight out it is, since these toyhaulers are so tall. There are adjustments to lower it, or lean it to the side a little for the water to drain. I like that but you have to remember to loosen those set screws so it extends before rolling it back up and one of the arms is not reachable from the entry steps.

I use tie downs. I do wish there was away to stop the flapping of the fabric on the automatic awnings. My old manual awning I put holders on the edge of the fabric.

I don't have a problem with the fabric flapping, the entire unit pushes up and then snaps down

When the awing is starting to 'self fold' we retract it until the the wind dies down.
