19 xud reviews

Good morning, I own a 2014 jayco 19xud and I have been searching for reviews online but have not been able to find any. Does anyone on this website have any insite as to where I can find them. I like the unit but am wondering what others think about it. I have issues with the uncomfortable end mattresses and condensation issues under the mattresses on the ends as well.

Hello,

I have a 2015 SLX 19XUD we think is just great - we luv it! Tomorrow will be our third trip (1 trip to mountains for a weekend and 1 four day trip to Cape May, NJ) so I don't have a lot of experience with it yet although I grew up camping in my father's trailer's then class A motorhome. We did find the same issues. The condensation we haven't figured out yet, but the mattresses we use both stacked up on one end and an air mattress on the other seems to work.

Condensation seems to be an issue on all Jayco hybrids. After trying many things (windows cracked, fan running etc), I ended up buying the 2" foam insulation that you get in 4' x 8' sheets at Lowes. I cut it and put under the mattress. Seems to work well.

Any of the Jay Feather hybrids have the same mattresses and other components. Construction methods are the same as well. Only the floor plans differ. So some parts of reviews of an X17Z or an X20E would apply. All you can really do is search sites like this or rv.net.

Condensation seems to be an issue on all hybrids period. Jayco is not unique in this. then again we got condensation in our pop-ups and our tent. It's never been bad enough for us to think it's a big problem. It just is.

As the mattress in our old Jayco hybrid ('03 Kiwi 17a) started wearing (about 8 years into owning it) we put a memory foam mattress topper on it. That worked wonders. We also use an opened sleeping bag laid flat out. It adds a bit of extra cushion. With the sleeping bag our current hybrid is quite comfortable. We have not felt the need to use the mattress topper in our X20E. Yet.

BJHILL, are you referring to the 19xud? I just looked and was surprised to see that it only has a 9 gal black tank capacity! I really thought Jayco had gotten away from such smal black tanks. Our old Kiwi 17a only had a 6 gal tank. Because of that we chose to only use during the night, and only for "#1".

That's your only saving grace. We got one too for our old trailer.

We have the x20e. Agree on the small black tank size, have to carry a tote on longer trips. Regarding the bunk end mattresses, we tried memory foam but it was too annoying to roll up after every trip, we ended getting some self inflating sleeping matts. They are great to slip under the bunk mattress and are easy to pack up.
