Just think what those folks in Kalifornia are getting charged. Knowing that state, there's probably some big disposal fee to pay, as it wouldn't surprise me that it's illegal to dispose of one of those batteries in Cali, so it has to be trucked out of state. (I do not know that for a fact, though.)

Time to up your improve your insurance and park under an old dead rotten tree.

I suspect there is a typo with this quote. I looked up on google and what I found was $4K to $8K pending on year and which battery you have.

Not sure what the labor is required to change out a battery

Yep, that vehicle has a 65kwh battery and replacements run about $140.00 per kwh on the high end.

I read somewhere recently where the people's republic of Kalifornia is having a huge disposal issue with 25 year old solar panels. It caught my attention as we just installed 22.4KW of solar panels at home, final inspection today, and now waiting for Duke power to do their thing. I was not aware they had started the solar thing so long ago. We passed on the Tesla Power wall batteries, we needed 2 for our system, for a little while as they wanted a discounted price of 15K

There's a bunch of Prius' in junk yards for this same reason. Battery replacement is way more than the car is worth.

We have 6 hybrid local transit buses at work. They are 2013's and all 6 recently needed battery replacements. Parts / labor just shy of 75k each....

26k would by a lot of gas, even at today's prices, not to mentions the jobs created to make and transport the gas.

I have a friend in Grass Valley that have their power shutoff every time the wind blows more than 15mph. That means you can only charge the EV on days it isn't windy....what about the windmills that are supposed to save the planet??

And yet California is banning gas powered vehicles to be sold in their state by 2035 (I think that's the right year) I heard. So where will the disposed batteries go then from all their EV vehicles?

They'll be refurbished and resold.
