28DSBH (2) gray water tanks

While taking a closer look at my White Hawk 28DSBH yesterday, I noticed there's 2 gray water tanks. Did this model always have 2 tanks? Or is this something new in 2014? I thought these only had 1 tank. Anyone now what the size of these tanks are?

I have a 338 rlts. The second grey water tank is for the washing machine. Not sure about your model.

I believe they are 22.5 gal each. 1 for the bathroom and 1 for the kitchen. I'm not sure if the bathroom sink is plumbed to the same as the shower or the kitchen sink though. That is what I have on the 33BHBS and when we were looking at the 28DSBH they were the same size as the 33 if I remember correctly.

I just looked at the web site and it looks like there must be two since the gray water capacity is 45 gallons while the black is only 32.5 or so. I know our 2012 HT FW has two of them with about 35 gallons each capacity while the black has around 35-40.

On the 338RLTS you can equalize them by adding a twist on valve and then opening both gray valves which allows them to back fill each other.

I hope they aren't the same size. 22.5 seems small for the shower. Hope I don't need to water the shrubs mid stay....

We have a 2014 28DSBH, and the kitchen tank is smaller. I can't remember exactly what the capacities are, but I want to say the kitchen tank is 17 gal. I'm sure that I'm not correct on the exact size, but the kitchen tank is smaller.

That makes me happy!

The extra tank is nice to have. Sadly on our trailer the plumbing is all so close that there is no room for the third tank.

I emailed Jayco this morning. They said the tanks are 22.5 gallons each. The kitchen sink has one tank and the bathroom sink and shower have the other tank. I must admit I'm disappointed. I feel that most of the water we use is in the bathroom. It sure would have been nice to have a 30 gallon tank for the bathroom and a 15 gallon tank for the kitchen sink. Had I known this before we purchased, it may have been a deal breaker.

Caleb, how many grey water discharge valves are there? If only 1, why not make sure the discharge pipe cap is on tight and open the valve. This will equalize the grey tanks but you will have grey water at the cap. Another option is install another drain valve right at the outlet and then put a short piece of pipe with the tangs for the drain cap for sealing it up.

That's a good idea. Thanks!

Valtera makes a twist-on valve that would be perfect for this, if you have the ~8" it will add to the final outlet length. It allows you to equalize the levels with the grey tanks and gives you a "last line of defense" if one of your other valves, possibly difficult to reach under the bottom cover, decides to get baulky or fail or just leak a little bit. It is no fun to take the cap off and get a quart of "dark water" delivered at your unsuspecting feet!
