50 Amp Cord Storage

With the 50 amp cord so rigid, how do you all store it when not in use?

Our fifth wheel has a cord reel. In our previous rig, we used an old milk crate or 5 gallon bucket.

I have the Mor Ryde cord reel. Very easy to use and well built. You can just drag the cable to the reel and crank it on. I use a paper towel to wipe the cord as it winds on to the reel. It is a little pricey but worth the money in my opinion.

Mor-Ryde reel, it's one of the best things I've done. A cold power cord is like a steel bar but the reel can manage it. In warmer weather rolling it up is a snap. If I break mine I'll buy another.

Here is what we put in a few years ago.

It's a Mor Ryde manual

I don't use the 50 amp unless I have a 50 amp hookup to plug into. When it's stowed, I use velcro stowage straps to keep it tidy.

If I only have a 30 amp hookup, I use a 50 to 30 amp adapter and a easier to handle 30 amp cord.

Makes no sense to lug around a bulky 50 amp cord if all you have available is 30 amps.

Also got a shorter 50A cord that hangs off the hook.

I just received a 36' 50 amp extension that has 3 6-gauge and 1 80 gauge wire. I was surprised at how heavy and hard-to-handle it was when coiled. Good ideas here.

That's a good ideal, I have the 50amp cord and man it does get a little crumble so getting a tote will be good.

I roll mine into a milk crate. I try to only unroll out what length I need and in general it keeps things easy enough to store and keep organized.

Works great without all the hassle wrestling with the heavy 50amp chord...especially in cold weather. Actually saves space in the basement with it's small foot print compared to other methods.

Been that route of trying to hang it on the hook that came with the rig and watched some trying to stuff it into storage containers...not for me.

Speaking of cord reels, how long of a cord comes with the newer Jayco's that have the power cord reel option. Just wondering as my 2012 Pinnacle 36KBTS came with a 36', and my 2018 is on order. Thanks

I decided recently that it will stay in the garage when at home, and in my truck bed while traveling with it. That 50 amp cord is long and heavy! Plus, my storage bins are quite full.
