IMO, installing a set of all-steel (tread and sidewall are steel belted) G-rated, 235/85/16 or 235/80/16 tires might be an alternate option to consider. Sailun, Gladiator, and Hartland (America/Discount Tire housebrand) make some all-steel versions. An all-steel, G-rated 235/85/16 trailer tire can weigh as much as 15-25 lbs. more than the E-rated trailer tire of the same size--pretty substantial.
On our last trailer we were able to purchase a set of 4, 235/85/16 all-steel, Hartlands (rebranded Gladiators) for less than $700 out the door, mounted and balanced.
You do hear reports of regular (non-steel sidewalls), G-rated tires failing occasionally, but it's very rare that you hear of an all-steel, G-rated version failing.
