I think Honda has a metal theft deterrent "shield" of sorts that attached to the handles to make it more difficult to cut through the handles,

I have it cable locked but I going to put a piece of stainless rod I have laying around and secure to the handle with stainless hose clamps. That will make it a 15-20 min job and should deter everyone except the person that's going to get it no matter what.

How exciting. Hope you have a blast and everything goes smooth on your trip. I would like to take a road trip to Alaska one day too!

We did alaska in 2012 from San Diego with a 29 foot Cougar travel trailer. We now have a 2015 Pinnacle and will do trip again. We were on trip for 3 months. Here's our blog from then and you can see stuff we did along the way. There's lots of detail in the blog. If anyone wants a spreadsheet including miles, activities and campgrounds, send me a private email. Sparcat@gmail.com.

Sounds like an exciting adventure. I would love to do that sometime. Be careful and from what I've been reading, you may need a boat to get out of Texas!

On my eu 3000 is I put a piece of 5/8" rebar through the gen rack holes and through the "legs" on the gen and welded the bar to the rack. I didnt plan on using it around the house. And if I need it off I can cut/grind the welds easy enough.......BTW, I bought my Octane with an Alaska trip in mind. I tried a couple of times to do the pipeline road (Dalton) on my BMW 1200 gs adventure , but never made it. I'm in NY and I would need at least the same 2 months as you. So my trip will probably have to wait till I retire. Good luck! I'm jealous.
