We have a well at home.. No public water supply. We are fine with drinking groundwater. We live next to Poland Spring and they take water from our aquifer and sell it to those who have to have bottled water.
Things that were never an issue for us.. fuel stops and water supply.. The Alaska Highway is an easy drive now.
We never drove with a full tank of water.. ever. That 320 lbs does make a difference.

I'm not able to drink directly from our well, as it has a high content of iron. I have an iron filter and salt softener, but still can occasionally smell the iron and slight sulfer. I can understand wanting to know of storing water alternatives.
