Alaska travel fresh water

Going to Alaska from Oregon with our 27 RLS.

My question for those that have traveled before. How do you tackle the fresh water issue.

Use only your fresh water tank for all uses?

Use fresh water tank only for showers and bathroom and dishes the pack bottle water for drinking, coffee etc?

Do you top off water in fresh tank at every opportunity? Only have a 40 gal tank

When filling water tank do you use filtration before filling tank the able to drink from tank.

Thanks in advance for your help on this.

Not a fan of bottled water . We traveled to Alaska twice from Maine and back and always used the campground water supply for everything.

We have a well at home.. No public water supply. We are fine with drinking groundwater. We live next to Poland Spring and they take water from our aquifer and sell it to those who have to have bottled water.

Things that were never an issue for us.. fuel stops and water supply.. The Alaska Highway is an easy drive now.

We never drove with a full tank of water.. ever. That 320 lbs does make a difference.

Been up to AK 3 times. I follow the same plan on up in Canada and AK as I do in the lower 48. Go to a full hookup to empty tanks and fill fresh water ( we carry 100 gallons of fresh ). Then go boondock for a few days. There are lots of places to boondock in Canada so you will have to have your fresh water with you. If you go from FH to FH then don't worry about it. The water in Canada is fine, we use it for cleaning and drinking, never had a problem.

I'm not able to drink directly from our well, as it has a high content of iron. I have an iron filter and salt softener, but still can occasionally smell the iron and slight sulfer. I can understand wanting to know of storing water alternatives.
