King crab legs cheaper in NY than here. $20 lb on sale in Fred Meyer. jeez. Maybe cheaper in Anchorage area?
Your gonna have a blast...except for food prices..

Ustabslim:
I've really enjoyed your Alaska trip itinerary updates - thanks so much for sharing with us.
We are recently retired and new to camping. We would like to do an Alaska camping trip maybe next summer. One decision we are struggling with is whether to fly to Alaska and rent an RV or pull my own from KY. I am especially concerned with how the TT would hold up on the rough roads. We really enjoy the camping experience and think we would like a larger camper but don't want to limit ourselves the flexibility of fitting into many camp sites our present TT size affords. Were your campsite choices or ability to navigate the roads limited due to camper size? (I noticed you want to go to a 30' toyhauler.) BTW, really love your 338RETS layout, especially the king bed. I agree with you, I think my next upgrade will be a toy hauler.
Any do's and don'ts you could share on these concerns?

We want to be able to get into smaller spaces. We were limited beacuse of the length. The drive thru Canada because of the thousands of public parks is really nice...but we couldn't get in them..lot with water front, because of the length. If you have plenty of time I would drive. Really need 8 weeks to do it all.
If time is important I would fly into Anchorage and rent a RV for 2-3 weeks.
Our trip cost around $6000 but we rarely cooked...most meals out. Travel trailer should have no problem as long as you don't over load. Load clothes then take half away..except for underwear. American border agent wanted to know what we bought in Canada...I told him extra underwear so I could make it home...My wife had about 10-20 pairs of different cutese sandals.. Once we hit Canada and the cool weather never saw them again.

Thanks for the tip. My 27DSRL is just under 31' hitch to end of box. Sounds like I should hang on to it while I'm in the "travelling the country" phase of retirement.
