Alternator Size

What size alternator does a 2020 Ram 1500 5.7 HEMI truck come with as standard equipment ? Just wondering if I need to upgrade….Thanks

Does your truck come with a tow group? If you do then you probably have an alternator designed for use with a trailer.

Call your local dealer service department with the last 8 of your vin and they can probably tell you if you don't have the original build sheet isn't in the glove box.

You could also call Napa, Autozone , Oreilly's or maybe just pull it up on Computer. Just my .02 cents worth

180 amp, unless you upsized it on special order. Your charging amps to your RV shouldn’t be over 15 amps due do to size limitations of your tow wire harness. Unless you use lots of accessories in your tow vehicle, ie ham radio, or plan on installing a DC-DC charger over 40 amps I wouldn’t worry, your current alternator will be fine.
