Annual Vehicle / Camper Registration

So, I finally *had to* get my license plates and tags for my new truck. I was expecting it to be pretty expensive.

1375 dollars for the first year. Camper is due next month, that will be over 800 bucks.

What are you guys paying for your TV and Camper tags? I love Colorado, but I think this is pretty extreme.

I recently did the truck and camper together. I think it was just a little over $400 for two years.

I guess Colorado is a bit more pricey.

My htt, has been abou $18.50 a year after year 1.

My truck keeps dropping, but it is now old. It was about $300 when newer, price drops every year. Last year it was about $50. My every day car (17 yrs old) is about $32. It's hard to buy a new vehicle when these cost so little to own.

For those of you that live in states with graduated registration fee schedules, do you also pay sales tax on the initial purchase of the vehicle?

Michigan starts out expensive for new vehicles based on value and then drops a little each year for three years to where it levels off. Trailers get a permanent plate that stays with the trailer as long as there is no change of ownership and I believe its $75 for all trailer sizes. It's only paid once.

In NY state, the vehicle registration fee is based on vehicle type and weight, and depends on county of residence. For your truck listed in your post, the fee would be ROUGHLY $180-190 for 2 years (2-year registration is required), and for your trailer it is $5.39 for each 500 pounds or portion of 500 pounds, so for a 8000 GVWR pound trailer, would be ROUGHLY $86 per year. (Believe me, NY State gets you in other ways, but vehicle registration fees are pretty reasonable).

In WV we pay tax when purchasing a car/truck then pay a personal property tax yearly on all vehicles and trailers mine for all four vehicles, the TT and 36' goose neck trailer run about eight hundred a year. Then we pay a yearly registration fee for each vehicle. That cost just went up last month it's like 50$ for regular plates and a bit more for HD pickup trucks.

In NY State, Yes on initial registration after purchase. Again, depending on county, about 7.5% to 8.5%. No further taxes collected on personal vehicles - not sure about commercial.

PA is the same. Either 6% or 7% depending on county and the the annual fee.

For my 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty plates were $131.00 with the $11.00 Passport for our Michigan State Parks annually. Trailers plates are lifetime for the trailer/owner if either change then you are required to purchase another plate. There are three different plates based on weight $75.00, $150.00, & $300.00. My 2018 Pinnacle required the $300.00 plate.

MN has the graduated system EXCEPT for 1 ton trucks. The legislature thinks that all farmers have 1 tons and so the registration is $100. When I had my 2500 the first year was over $700! Our RV's are $36/year.

In KS, my 2017 F250 is $1250 the first year and then drops about a $100/ yr. The TT is $160/ yr with a GVWR under 8,000 lbs and then goes up quite a bit if it's over 8,000 lbs GVWR.

$51.50 WV Dusty, I have two due this month and one in Dec. A word of warning, if you live in WV and buy an RV in Florida, you pay sales tax in Florida and West Virginia. If we had known this, it would have been a no deal for us. It cost us another $3500.00

I switched tags on my car and truck so 1 year is $75, I forgot what the trailer is I know it is just over $130 which gets less each year.

It used to be way more reasonable. In Colorado all tax increases have to be approved by voters. So the good ex governor Ritter calls license plate taxes "fees" to bypass voters and quadrupled the rates. The worst part is our roads are still garbage.

Just renewed my truck plates and they were $83.50 for two years. My trailer tag was a lifetime tag (no renewals) and it was $120 last year.
