Virginia here.

Don't have my truck in front of me. However, for my 23RB which I got in June of 2017, the sales tax was $684.71. Titling Fee was $10.00. Permanent personalized plates was $110. (One time plate charge equaled $100 and one time personalized plate charge equaled $10.)

In the spring of 2018 I will get a county personal property tax bill, but don't know how much it will be.

In Quebec the trailer is a permanent plate you pay once when it is purchased. Was less than 200. But my Yukon Denali cost what I thought was expensive over 1000.00 not sure what I will pay the second yr . The government came up with what they call a ( luxury tax) and added it to the plate that is price based on the engine size. But reading what others pay I guess I should just be happy I can afford what we are charged

(Believe me, NY State gets you in other ways, but vehicle registration fees are pretty reasonable).
Don't let Cuomo see what other states pay, he might get an new idea how to get the 350 million he wants to spend to light the bridges

He probably doesn't know that PA's gas tax is higher than NY for the time being. Our states seem to fight for the honor of having the highest in the nation. For now, we are winning........Yea!

One note to NYS registrations for trailers is that they are Jan 1st to Dec 31st and prorated based on the total months you register for. I wait until the last day before we hit the road and carry the temp with me the first trip.

It knocks off about $50.00 waiting until April/May when we start. Also we need a $6.00 state inspection which is a light and brake check. I drive though the dealer to do this, but any service station issuing inspections can perform.

Sales tax is collected on all vehicle/trailer purchases upon the first registration at DMV for prevailing county rate unless you buy from a NYS Reg Dealer who collects at purchase. Depending on how many times the vehicle or trailer changes hands within the state they could collect tens of thousands on one unit! Does not matter where you bought it, you need to register it eventually in NYS.

Sometimes trade in is better than private due to sales taxes being north of 8% on avg in the state.

That makes sense, they are trying to get around TABOR law.

I only wish my fees had been that low as you guys are posting. In Castle Rock CO My 17 Ram 3500 was well over $5k with sales tax and owners tax etc first year 8% sales tax and 2% owners tax which is based on 85% of the MSRP not the sales price plus other incidental registration fees here. The trailer was over 3k first year with sales tax and owners tax. Second year on the trailer was over $700. The registration fees are graduated with age but it takes like 10 years to get to the bottom rung.

Jesus! WOW!
I thought we had it bad here in Texas BUT cars and trucks are around $60-$70 a year.
My BBQ pit trailer is slightly less at $50. Don't know yet what TT will be but I expect around $50 or so.

Now we do pay tax title and license at purchase and I don't know what that was when I bought the TT but I think our sales tax for vehicles is 4%.

I finally got all my facts together, here in Idaho I paid $1440 sales tax on my 27DSRB in 2014. I bought a used 2006 F250 a few weeks ago and paid $1230 in sales tax. My trailer registration was $91.98 for 2017 and the truck was $5 for transferring my wildlife plate to my truck. The vehicle that it came off of was $187.85 for two years.

In Missouri you never own anything. We pay sales tax on the purchase price and where I live the rate is 5.975% then pay yearly "personal property" tax, Last year ours was about $ 1,000.00. You pay this every year on a decreasing scale. Sales taes are paid every time a vehicle, trailer, etc. changes hands. Trailer license are very reasonable, I think about $12.00 per year and can be purchased for 3 years. Vehicle fees are based on horsepower and can be purchased for 2 years. Our F150 is about $40.00 per year plus a 12.00 state inspection.

Annual Vehicle / Camper Registration

Michigan trailers are 75 for 0-2499#, 200 for 2500-9999# and 300 for 10000#+. Can't complain with it plated for life though. Vehicle registrations just went up per new road funding legislation, but it's still based on original MSRP and is graduated. My wife's $36k Msrp Volvo was a shade over 200 this year. We pay 6% sales tax every time the vehicle is bought/sold and is calculated on the purchase price at each sale.

california here...
2002 Silverado 2500hd, 8.1 was $325 last November but with brown's new taxes I am estimating $400 plus... Think the 5th wheel is around $325.
We pay 7.5% (think that is the rate) on the purchase price...
Praying our home sells real soon and we can relocate to Idaho. Sick to death of california. Or else the State of Jefferson...

What are you guys paying for your TV and Camper tags? I love Colorado, but I think this is pretty extreme.
RAM 1500 Hemi, 5.7 2018, registration in Reno NV $750
Jay flight 28 RLS 2018, registration in Reno NV $ 399
So NOT that much cheaper I guess!

I concur about the sad "state of California" If it gets any worse, we're leaving the state as well.

GA here
6.5% sales tax every time a vehicle is sold. This recently changed from only sales tax from dealer sales....private parties paid no sales tax. Everyone then paid an ad valorem tax based on the assessed value of the vehicle.

Now with the new sales tax applied to everyone, $25 per year for vehicle tags and $40 for lifetime trailer tags. Not sure that I can buy a lifetime tag for camper. Its canary yellow so not sure I would want it. LOL
