Anode Rod

I bought a Camco Water tank rinser today. I notice that they are selling an anode rod for Atwood hot water heaters. I didn't think Atwood recommended a rod for there heaters. Does anyone have any insight whether they should be used or not.

The general rule is.. if your h/w heater came with one, keep using one. If it did not, dont start.
