Another oops moment

Learned another lesson this weekend. While in line at the CG water filling station, I decided to turn on the propane to get a head start on cooling the fridge. Suddenly I hear the propane alarm go off. Turn off propane and go into the trailer. Can smell propane. Open windows and vents and alarm stops. Finish filling the holding tank and go set up at site. After set up, I start investigating where the leak is coming from. Can’t find any problems, so I turn the propane back on ( windows open and vents operating). Sure enough alarm goes off again. Shut it back down and spend another 20 minutes looking for the problem. Being relatively new to this, I was at my wits end when I looked at the stove (which we have never used) and see all 3 dials are turned on. Smack my forehead and turn them to off. Turn on the propane and voila, no alarm. Remembering now that our 5 year old “helped” to load the camper earlier. Have now added check the stove to our pre-trip safety checklist. I don’t seem to move beyond newbie…

We had that happen to us with a new German Shepherd puppy...LOL Our grandson is very intrigued by the blue led lights that backlight to controls as well. At least they turn red when turned on so there is a visual.

Glad you got it figured out quickly and more importantly, safely!

On the older Atwood ranges, just leaning on them the wrong way can unintentionally open one of them. We have had one big scare when the dogs were inside and the alarm went off. Fortunately, the windows were open.

Now we don't leave the rig without discussing the range knobs.
