Anyone ever set up your home to be friendly to RV visitors?

We own a Jayco travel trailer and have family and friends who have them too, and are thinking of setting up some amenities in our rural (zoned agricultural) acreage home to make having one travel-trailer toting visitor at at time, feel more at home. For example, an RV power hookup, and maybe even a sewer hookup. For water, temporary RV water hoses from our exterior house water taps is already easily done, but for the sewer and the power parts, I'm wondering if anyone has done this. I'm fairly handy but not a licensed electrician, I think I'd get a licensed electrician in to do the electrical. Anyone done this? How did it go and what did you learn?

Of course it serves our needs first and foremost but we have installed a 50 amp ped, sewer and fresh water are 25' away. The parking area can support about a 40' RV with ours in place.
This is a typical residential lot side yard and the sewer and water were there originally to support the home on it.

Have one full hookup set up for visitors, the rest have to use a tote for gray and black tanks. Water or electricity for 2 more is no problem. Our TT is always hooked up to electric (year round)

Your visitors will thank you.

I'd vote for 50A hook ups but it depends on how big your friend's rigs are, if they will be there in the heat of summer, and if you have shaded parking spots.

The only other thing to think of is to make the area not 'soggy' when it rains.

We have a concrete pad, water and 30 amp box for visitors. There is a dump station about 15 minutes away. Our TT is usually plugged in but we give it up when visitors arrive. We will be expecting family to arrive in early September for a few days with their RV.

This is my camp spot for friends and family. I have a 5 acer lake with game room that has kitchen and bathrooms. It has concrete road all the way around with go cart's, bikes and even a train. Plenty of concrete to park 3 or 4 campers. When I'm leaving for the holiday's some ones usaily coming here to camp. It's nicer than lots of campgrounds I stay in but I don't like camping in my on backyard. I see it every day and want to go somewhere different.

I think you will have many more friends. Similar to putting in a pool! LOL

My BIl used to stay in our backyard for a week or so at a time way back and we just ran a 15a ext cord to his MH. It sufficed. Didn't want to make it to easy! Back then you could find free dump stations most anywhere, even on interstates, now thanks to slobs, they are mostly closed.

Later I tapped a 30a receptacle for him which I used when he returned for a visit and we used it for our rig also. Years later, we put in a pole shed, 30a and water and left the other 30a receptacle in case we have a visitor.

Short term would be ok but no sewer connection. We have a county CG 4 miles away and can dump there for $10.

A good freind of mine, his twin brother, has his yard setup I think for 5 rigs. I think there is sewer connections too. It is mostly to host family get togethers.

That is amazing!

We just spoke with our contractor to add RV parking on the side of our house. Our problem is our house is built on a slope. Once he started talking retaining walls, pier foundation and the troubles of backing a 38' foot trailer down hill on an angle, I knew it was a pipe-dream.

DW's sister doesn't have a pad or sewer but does have 50A & water. Allows us to dump gray water in the yard. After 2 weeks haven't filled up the black because we only use it at night or 1st thing in the morning. On way home will stay overnight at campground & dump everything in the morning.

I park my TT next to the house. I wired a 30 Amp outlet next to it. I ran cable out to it. I could extend the city sewer line to it, it would only be a 20' extension. I may do that this coming winter when the temp's get down in the 70's.

We currently have two spots that are flat and have 20 amp service. One will be upgraded to 30 amp later this year. Both are close to water to refill tanks. Grey water is not a problem, all gravel, black dump station is 2 miles away. Could accommodate a few more if we had a big gathering, without power. My driveway is steep enough that I tell people that around 32 feet is my limit but we haven't tested the limits and they may need 4wd if they have to big a trailer. So far only used by truck campers and Class Bs

No pond but lots of woods including a national forest in our back yard.

I also have a full hookup RV pad for visitors (our kids & G-Kids), only 30 amp power but water, sewer, and cable, as well as covered parking. Gets used a lot
