Are there any delays?

We bought a new Jayco in February if 2021 and were told will arrive mid May.
Now dealer is saying mid July which is after 2.5 months our season opening.
Are there really long delays at the factory ????

Here's an article from December and things are still slow to improve.

RV plants are experiencing a shortage of critical parts at ... shortages and the constant need to monitor it through the first two quarters of 2021.

There’s no end in sight for issues with supply chain. A/C units are on backorder, awnings and toppers are slow to be delivered, generators are not available and now the resins used to make plastic and fiberglass is in short supply. Recall the deep freeze in Texas during February??..Resin plants had power outages that shut them down and they have yet to recover. So for the foreseeable future things will take much longer to build.

Yep. My rig was expected in June. Now its July. Waiting to see if it goes to August or worse. The only consolation I’m taking from this is I might get a 2022 at this rate, and my price is locked. These things only get more expensive.

same goes for tow vehicles. Trucks are in short supply and special orders may not happen. Parts coming from China seem to be an issue and the stuck ship in the Suez Canal just making things potentially worse.

Ordered a Pinnacle in early Nov., with an expected delivery late March or early April, now it's May or June. Gave me the option to cancel, but I'll wait. The supply chain is the issue for sure.

Just saw an article that FORD shut down an F-150 plant since they can't get the chips for the computer.

I sell heavy trucks and our industry is seeing plants shut down or manufactures building the truck with missing parts and then letting them sit in parking lots until they can complete the truck. The sad thing is that we are going to see more layoffs coming!

I read an article that stated Ford was shipping the incomplete units for the dealers to plug in the computers when they arrived? Sounds like computers will kill us all after all

I hope the computers they currently have and are using are very reliable. It would be a bad deal to have a computer go out, and no replacements available if you were hundreds of miles away from home.

When we ordered our 5th wheel late last Dec, our sales guy said that the 5th wheels were coming in quicker than the other models. Ours arrived in early March with all equipment installed.

As for the parts issue, it is a nightmare. I work for a electronics firm. We have to wait over 6 months for some parts and its getting worse as companies start hording parts. This has been going on since last year.

Between the resin shortage, associated parts cramp, and now chips? Add my Ford chassis to my list of concerns as to whether or not I’ll get my rig this summer. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this season was a total wash and I end up w/ a 2022.

We ordered our Jayco HT 5th wheel on Sept1,2020. Arrive at our local dealer mid January. It's missing the ladder to get to the roof (was told they didn't have one, but shipped it anyway). My dealer ordered one as a warranty part. Since Covid started, all the supporting vendors (ladders, a/c's, toilets, etc.) have been having a hard time keeping up with demand. Be patient.

Based on my recent experience you should anticipate considerable delay. Ordered my 5th wheel July 2020, was promised delivery for NOV and received my unit FEB 2021. There are lots of variables affecting production schedules that a dealer has no control over.

I don't know if its the same way for trailers, but for motorhomes both my local Winnie and Jayco dealers both said they had orders in since last June or July. Given they need a chassis for the build, they are already pre-allocated a spot based on chassis availability and other factors. My 'order' was in all actuality a modification of an already existing order placed in July of last year for a slot anticipated this coming May. Which already got pushed to June.
