I always do 400 miles per day when traveling long distances. The closest place I camp at is 3 hours away.

No so much miles as time. If it's a long day, I leave when needed with the intention of making the destination by dinner for before day light ends. Whichever comes first.

With that, longest so far has been an 8hr day I think.

Edit: I don't leave super early either. I get enough of that at work.

Miles per day

We like to travel around 250 - 300 and be on the road 9ish and stop by 5 when possible but if our destination is 350 we make it in 1 day - our longest day has been 879 miles on the road at 7:30am and stopped at 10:45 pm ( this won’t happen again - fingers crossed ) but the Seneca is a pleasure to drive and with a 500+ mile per tank we get to plan our stops at our convenience ( or when GasBuddy tells us the best price ) Les

We like to enjoy the afternoon & evening at the campground we spend the night at. So we use what is called the "330 Rule".....330 miles or 3:30 pm, whichever comes first. So regardless of when we depart, we try to adhere somewhat close to the 330 Rule.

Too long of travel days & late arrival can lead to mistakes, sour tempers, and improper rest for the next day. Sometimes longer days are required, of course; just attempt to catch up with yourself the next day.

Yep, that's the way we do it and why!

Good Rule.. But we break it on the go home day always.. 700 miles that last day is our norm coming home from FL . I hate to camp at 10 degrees in a Wal Mart.

For us it’s time. I try to limit the day’s drive to 8hrs or a bit less. We’ve also discovered that a rest day before hitting the road again is a great way to manage the fatigue. On a recent trip we spent 6 weeks travelling but could have done it in 2. We took the time to rest and “smell the roses”.
Taking the slow path also depends on your employment situation. I was recently retired and we took full advantage.

I do about 350 and like to be setup around 4:30-5 then go out to eat for seafood, Japanese or Indian Restaurant. Second day I hit the Pubs and eat outside with Tunce.

Varies from 250 to 400+. Depends if it is a single day or days back to back. Single days to get to a destination no problem driving 8 or more hours. But if driving several days I like to limit it to 300 ish. I go with the trucker standard of 50 mph average. So 300 miles is 6 hours of driving...

If I wasn’t on a timeline I’d limit it to 250ish or 5 hours of travel time. Because that’s not my reality it’s more like 650 on big travel days max. Upside, we only do that 3-4 days a year and it’ll be less after we get out of the Midwest in 2019.

If we're making the trip from Ontario to AZ in the winter then it's a lot of miles in one day.

If we're moving locations when in the SW then it depends on how far we're going. No set standard for how far, how long, when to leave, when to arrive, etc.

We like to get on the road by 6am and into the next campground by noon. We can have the full afternoon and evening enjoying the campground until we hit the road the next morning and you’re not rushed and you don’t feel like you’re just driving. For me 18 hours not being behind the wheel is perfect. Fill the fuel tank and drive for 5.75 hours and cover 350 miles.

Our max is 400 miles. That's about 8 ~ 9 hours given the stops we make. I also like arriving with plenty of sunlight to get set-up so the 8~9 hours work in that respect also.

I like to keep it well under 300 miles in a day, 200-250 works pretty good and allows us to stop along the way and smell the roses. We usually don't get going til 10:00 AM after a leisurely breakfast and breakdown. Like to stop by 3:00 or so to get set up and explore. We are heading on a 70 day trip to Alaska next summer (2019) and most days are traveling only 150 miles or less so we can take our time, see the sights and enjoy the trip. Not planning on making many reservations so we can be very flexible. Last summer I did a 9 hour day on back roads through Wisconsin - never again unless it's an emergency.

Two years ago on our way back home I ran 18hrs to stay ahead of an ice storm. If the end destination wasn't our house I would have parked overnight. I have no issue with long drives, it's my passenger (wife) that wants off the road. Once we get out west then the moves are only a hundred or so miles usually.

I hover around 5-6hrs. Mileage depends on many factors; scenic views, potty breaks and fuel stops. Not all is interstate travel.
