Awning Light Question

I just purchased a 2019 Jayco Redhawk 29XK. The awning lights will flicker when the awning is extended, but will not stay on. They only flicker with turning the switch on and off or moving the awning in or out. Has to be a short?? Can someone help please??

Yes, more likely a short somewhere, and/or bad connector. I would trace the power cable from the led strip back to the switch, but try disconnecting the light string connector at the awning, most awnings have a led string connector somewhere before the cable goes into the wall of the RV. If not try to move the cable yourself when the awning is out, give a little tug or wiggle, and see if you can create the flickering or see if that gets the lights to operate. You will probably find the problem with the cable somewhere down the line.
Also, check the switch connectors/wiring, some are not built/assembled very well, and/or the switch actually goes bad.
Measure the voltage at the switch if you can to make sure its not a voltage problem getting to the switch. Else could be a bad light string.

There's a youtube video out there showing the LED replacement process. I'd suggest using that to learn how the wiring is done. I'd check the wiring for 12V at where it leaves the awning tube and connects to the LED strip.

If that's fine - work your way back up to the arm where it enters the RV
