awning not sealed to camper

So we are out at the lake this week and it rained last night. We had all our gear stowed up under the awning and against the camper. Came out this morning and see that rain water has run behind the awning and down the camper and straight into our chairs, towels and baby stroller.

On my old camper, the awning had a water tight connection with the sidewall of the trailer and water didn't leak between the wall and the awning.

This trailer has the LED light strip against the wall under the awning. Will I cause any issues if I get up there and caulk the joint to prevent water intrusion behind it in the future?

If your unit is still under warranty, check with your dealer or Jayco. I recall reading ('somewhere' sorry ) that water leaking between the body and the awning was a warranty item.

Warranty or not, I would think that any caulking should be on top of the junction of the wall and the mounting strip.

Mine is sealed tightly. Never leaks.

Yea, its under warranty. I will add this to the very small list of things to be fixed. I've gotta tell you guys, I have been VERY happy with this new Jayco. A couple of tiny, minor inconveniences so far... but what a great trailer!

Its really nice having a slide with 2 young kids, especially in the rain today. In our old 22 foot non-slide camper there was NO ROOM for the 4 of us to be inside in the rain. This thing is AWESOME!!!
