While I don't have a deep slide out like some of you, I do have one on my X23B hybrid.

Would you still recommend a topper for it?

We owned a 322fks without slide toppers and now own a 351 RLTS with slide toppers. Having a unit with awnings and one without, there is no way I would purchase a unit with out them Since we spend most of our time in FL heat is a big issue. The slider awnings reallyt cut down on the heat transfer in the slider. It is noticably cooler with them.
