Awning roller tube replacement??

We forgot to adjust our awning to allow for rain drainage this past weekend. We came back to our site with gallons of water trapped in the fabric (from a freak, not forecasted, thunderstorm) and the roller tube bowed. We were able to close the awning but the roller tube will need to be replaced as we were unsuccessful in trying to bend it straight when we got home today. I've been searching the internet but have not been able to find a place to purchase a replacement roller tube. My husband wants to fix this himself (he's very handy). He thinks that he can slide the fabric out of the damaged tube and into a new tube. Has anyone successfully replaced just the roller tube? Is it possible to do this or is the fabric permanently attached (I keep finding "fabric roller tube assembly"). We have a Dometic Sunchaser Express manual awning.

Thanks,
Adina

I replaced a roller tube once on my previous TT and it wasn't hard at all.I would give Dometic a call and see what they give you price for just the tube.

Check here, You may get roller and fabric as cheap as just the roller from a dealer.

I called Dometic directly and it's cheaper to order the part direct from them than to pay a local RV dealer/service dept. for the part. Going to place the order tomorrow. Thanks!
