Awning supports

I believe it was Big John who posted and showed great pics of the dometic awning supports he has. Well I have the Carefree Longitude on mine which are paper thin. Numerous posted showing failures and after one year Jayco than went with the Traveler same design but heavier. This is what I made to support mine so I do not have to roll in every time gone. No where as nice as Big Johns but do the job.

Thanks. It was tested last night when the cold front came thru . Now I have no concern leaving both awnings out. Did forget one thing, our flagpole buddy with two flags. I have a spot light on it and believe me it got tested and passed.

They are. I glued them into the wood blocks with 5200 marine adhesive they will never come out. What I like is if they do not fit right just drill a new hole where it fits just right.

Tons of ideas for this same concept, which you have done.

BigJohnD
Anyone with the dometic awning should do like BigJohnD has done. That is a sweet and easy set up. The carefree longitude is way to flimsy to add a bracket to the arm. Direct support to the roller tube is the best I could come up with. I am also going to either make a center support or maybe add the carefree center support. The carefree center support also supports the center of the roller when closed driving down the road. I have heard of bent tubes on large awnings from road bounce.

Function is what it's all about. I always shoot for function first. Looks without function is worthless.
