Question Backup Camera System

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good high quality camera system?

I just pick up the Furrion Observation Backup camera, I going to install it tomorrow. I already have the backup camera but it wasn't the right one so you want to look at this one which is FOS48TAPK-BL the one that you want to stay away from is the FRC12TA-BL because it's a backup camera only and if you want to run with it or have it on when you driving down the highway the FRC12TA-BL is not the one to get.

The dealer install the FRC12TA for me but didn't install the one I wanted so I had to buy the FOS48TA-BL and going to sell the one they install. The FRC12TA work great for backing up but driving down the highway it cut out sometimes.
https://www.furrion.com/store/camera...ket-p-916.html

Check amazon you can pick it up for cheaper.

X2 for the Furrion FOS48TA-BL system. I've had mine for about 2 years now.

Paw,

Having a bigger rig, 329, doe the rear camera system work well while driving down the e-way?

Keep considering a system myself to keep an eye on the bikes on the rear hitch.

What did you use to provide the hot wire or do you have it connected to the Center clearance light and you just have to have the parking lights turned on to run the camera?

X3 on the Furrion Rear Observation Camera. Works great on our 41' Pinnacle. Never drops out. It was prewired at the factory. The wire was bundled with the center rear running light. The camera is on all the time powered by the Pinnacle's batteries.

Received my Furrion Rear Observation Camera yesterday and will be installing it this weekend. Furrion offers a straight up backup camera and the observation camera.

The backup camera only works when backing up, the observation type lets you view the back of your TT as you go down the road. The observation type gives one an extra measure of safety, letting you change lanes etc. while viewing who is behind or in another lane.

Here is a good link if you are thinking of installing one yourself:

Thoughts

Thanks for all the comments. Did anyone purchase the cameras to go on the sides? If so, how do you feel about them?

X4

I have the FOS48TAPK-BL. I love it! Also purchased on Amazon. Pre-wired from the factory. If not, you tie in to the center running light. Operates with the running light on.

What color was your hot wire .? Jayco told me it was yellow don’t have a yellow but I have a blue Jayco said they were 98 % sure that was it so hooked to blue and the camera lite was on and the monitor came on and went off talking to furrion and suppose to send me a new monitor but that’s been over a week . Don’t know where to turn

I have a question about the FOS48TAPK-BL camera's field of vision. In the past I've tried a couple cheaper backup cameras that were truly backup cameras. They were good for seeing what was right behind the trailer, like up to maybe 20 feet. But not good for seeing who was coming up on me down the road. Vehicles looked like they were a long way off when they were too close for me to make a turn. In a second a car would go from a distant dot to right on my bumper. Would the FOS48TAPK-BL give a more realistic view of traffic behind me?

I have the model you're asking about, I would say it's a bit better than what you have described, but there is room for improvement! I've only had mine a short time, about a year now. I adjusted the angle a bit as I was seeing the spare tire and that helped a bit. Hoping to get out to the desert in a few weeks and I would like to play a bit more with the angle of the camera.

I still always check my mirrors and signal before lane changes as I'm uncertain of how far the cars are behind me with the observation cam. Just another tool and not a substitution for mirrors.

Most are true backup cameras with a wide field of view. Not "rear view cameras" to replace a mirror.

For me, I've never wanted a "rear view camera". I had one a long time ago and considered it useless. For any car that is not right behind me the side mirrors work better.

The backup cameras do the intended job. They let me know if someone is behind me when backing and also makes backing into spaces much easier. When towing I can see what I am towing to make sure it is not out of whack.
