Bathroom Vent Fan

I have searched and cannot find any threads. Anyone have any experience in replacing the small OEM fan that comes with the crank up vent? I’m looking to replace the small fan with a larger one any and all advice welcome. Are the larger ones worth the money, do they make that big of a diff?

Look around, lots of past threads that touch on this. Fantastic fans are what you are looking for and YES they are well worth the $$. I am surprised and mentioned this to Jayco that they are not offered as an option on new TT's The little bathroom vent fans [I call them stink fans] that come with most rvs are worthless at best and annoying also. The fantastic fan [are a couple other brands] was the first update I did withing weeks of picking up my new White Hawk. Its an easy project, just be careful climbing up on the roof and pick a sunny day with no rain. Get all your stuff organized which amounts to the fan/vent, correct sealant, and a few tools. It will take from just a couple hours [if you've done it before] to 4 or 5 hours if you're like me and have to make a half dozen trips up and down to get what you dropped or forgot. Take your time and don't make a mess.

This upgrade is so worth it you will join me in wondering why Jayco won't offer it.

Last comment: They come with the basic that operates only as a 3 speed exhaust fan all they way to some that will sense rain and close automatically and models in the middle with tstats and remote controls. I chose to go with the base model in my new TT. Had the Tstate on my previous TT but never the remote. I found that I never used it to suck in outside air, just to exhaust air and open windows for incoming fresh air. Only use for the "in" setting for the fan would be if you were going to camp in hi generator use areas and pulling in air thru windows [closer to the ground] is dangerous. Anyway I personally don't see the value in the remote and even the tstat models.

PS you will also need a maxair vent cover or similar model. They keep the rain out even when the regular cover is open and even while you are traveling. Open up the vent at the last rest stop and you will have a fresh camper upon arrival at your CG.

The vortex 5 speed fan upgrade is a cheaper and much easier option. Just replace the fan portion inside, don't have to mess with the vent on the roof.

Our Eagle came with a large diameter bathroom fan. It moves a lot of air.

I just replaced my standard bath vent fan with the entry level Fantastic Fan. It has 3 speeds but no reverse, remote or rain sensor (which I don't care about). It works great! A lot quieter than the standard fan and moves tons more air. I was nervous about the installation process but it was not bad at all. Just follow the directions and don't get in a hurry. I had a question on installation and called the company. They were very helpful and the last thing they said before hanging up the phone was, "call back if you have any other questions". Great CS. One of the reasons I chose this fan (other than it has great reviews) was that it takes up very little power when boondocking. Good luck on your decision.

I have the stock small fan but I have already installed a Maxxair cover on the roof. Can I still install the Vortex fan without getting back on the roof?

That's how I did it. Had the maxxair on for over 2 years. It was one my 1st mods. I just replaced the fan because the stock one burned up. So to answer you question.....yes, for the vortex 1 (1 speed) all the install was from the inside. That's why I chose the vortex. Of course the salesman at the local RV supply tried to up sell me on the maxxair with the three rows of vents. I'm pretty certain the standard maxxair is large enough to allow the proper ventilation. Very easy. I'm thinking in the future following the other posts on here for adding a wall switch for the fan.

I also installed the Vortex a few years ago, easy install and a nice upgrade over the stock fan. Mine is the single speed as the multi speed unit was not available then.

For me the multi speed fan was twice the price at $140 and some change. Plus they were out of stock.
