Battery Question

I am new to this forum so apologize if this has been answered multiple times before...
I managed to run down my battery by mistake..
1. When I am plugged into electricity, is my battery being charged?
2. I would like to add a bit of reserve storeage. My present battery is a new and decent deep cycle RV battery. What would be better, by a second deep cycle or replace it with two good quality 6v golf cart batteries?
3. Regardless of which way I go are there battery brands to buy or avoid?

Thanks,
Ron

If you ran your battery waaay down, then it might pay you to take it out* and go to a shop to get it tested. If you crash a battery far enough, it may not recover.

Or, if it's very low, the on-board charger in your converter may not be up to the task, so, while you've got it out, put it on a good-quality "bench" battery charger.

*Paying close attention to which wires go where ! The colour coding is not intuitive, nor consistent, so take notes, label the cables, or take pictures.

install 2 6V Trojan Batteries, you can run for a long time on those, sounds like you just have a single 12 v?

Yes, just a single 12v.

Depends. As above, have your battery checked.

Do you use your battery much? If you do a lot of boondocking then, yes, get two 6V or two 12V batteries, whichever you have space for. If you are like us and almost always stay at full service sites, then the single 12V is just fine.
