Battery winterizing

I live in a cold climate (southern Ontario) new to motor home life. If I leave my unit 2022 jayco 27U plugged into power during the winter will the battery damaged or should I have the removed brought inside and put on a trickle charger. Thanks

Ours is plugged in all year round. Stored in pole shed.
We do full hookups so I check battery level twice a year and add distilled water if cells are down
We are Sarnia Ont area so similar weather.

I'm going to guess you've got a good ol' Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) battery and not a Lithium one. Nothing special to do - just keep it charged. SLAs, if I recall, don't concern themselves until it's something like -70*F outside.


Trickle charger is fine. Plugged in is fine. We use solar to keep them both topped off.

A fully charged battery has a freezing point around -80°F (-62°C) while a discharged battery has a freezing point around 20°F (-6°C). By keeping the battery fully charged during the winter months, the electrolyte is less likely to freeze and cause unexpected failures

I live just across the border from southern Ontario and I bring my battery indoors in the winter and keep it on a trickle charger during the off season. I top off the water levels with distilled water (don't use tap water).
