BBQ(Barbecue, Briquet, Question)

One of the options our Tt came with was the outside grill. The accompanying instructions are all about how to set it up, not much about using it. We have not done a lot of barbecuing, and we are wondering if this type of grill requires charcoal brickets of some sort and if so is there a certain type that works best.

My Jayco came with a mounting bracket for an outside grill and a gas outlet below on the frame.

Just guessing, but I assume your grill if your grill came as a TT option it is designed to be used with the low pressure propane typically plumbed near the grill mount.

If you share the brand and model of your grill I am sure you will get a lot more information.

I guess I am not really asking a clear question. Yes the grill came with the Tt and yes it connects to the side of the trailer and yes it connects to the gas located near it. It does not seem to have a name brand, just says sidekick on the box ( made in china). My house BBQ also connects to propane and we DO use brickquets in the bottom of it. I am just wondering if we need to put brickquets or ceramic bricks to put inside this sidekick?

If your home BBQ use bricks or ceramic it is most likely an older model. The new LP or NG BBQ's on the market for the last few years no longer use these. They just have flat metal bars over the burners. I have a Broil King and they call theirs something like flavor bars because the purposes is they heat up almost red hot and as the juices of what you are BBQing falls on them it creates a smoke flavor. In the past when I have had BBQ's that required the bricks, it came with the BBQ. I think you would just use the BBQ as it came, nothing further required.

No Briquets. Simply turn on and use. Do however keep the greese tray in the bottom slot and clean it regulary. The SS shield over the flame tends to build up over time from cooking and if it gets too covered you will have more flare ups buring your food. I clean it after every trip.

A grill mounted to the side of your RV will generally emit enough smoke to discolor the side of the RV. I bought a stand alone Coleman Traveler and a 4 ft quick connect hose so I can get away from the RV.

The sidekick that comes with the ultra light jayfeather hybrids can be attached to the side but can also be used as a table top if you purchase a longer connecter. The manual shows you how to turn the bars to make it work as a table top barbecue.

I just picked up a Weber Q100 and removed the regulator and replaced it with a quick connect adapter. Now I have a quality BBQ and the convience of the quick connect LP. Looking forward to cooking up the first steak very soon.
