Best entrance into Canada

I'm back again. Thanks for all the responses on hiding places.

Now I'm going to be leaving West Yellowstone going up through Montana toward BC and Alberta. Which pathway in to Canada is best. Up I-15 through Great falls and Shelby or up 287 and 89 toward Browning and Babb and highway 2 into Canada or up I-90 to Missoula and then 93 into Canada. My eventual goal is AlCan highway.

Do not have a time limit.

Thanks again. Paul

I always use I-15. Try to cross first thing in the morning to avoid the lineups.

It's the Alaska Highway. Canadians along the route really don't like being someone's can. The name was officially changed decades ago.

Also make sure you have the latest issue of Milepost. Very helpful in figuring where you might want to overnight, shop or figure fuel stops. And make sure you carry some Canadian currency. Best to exchange before your leave Dawson Creek. And banks will have best exchange rates. And lastly, check to see if your credit cards have charges for foreign purchases (yes Canada is foreign). Charges could be 3 or 4% of the total purchase. And those add up quick if you aren't aware. Visa and MasterCard are best since Amex is less likely to be accepted.

From a former Alaskan who traveled the Alaska Highway in excess of 30 times.

not quite as bad as you make it seem. gas is about $1.55 Canadian a liter in Vancouver, or $5.86 Canadian a gallon. which works out to $4.56 usd per gallon. n

Vancouver has the highest prices in Canada (for many things, no just gas).

Elsewhere in Canada, like in Quebec we pay $1.32/l or about $3.88usd. Ontario $1.13/l or $3.32usd

(now ask me how much we pay for heath care...)
