Best places to boondock in the Porcupine mountains area of Michigan's UP

I'm meeting some friends this coming weekend near the Porcupine mountains (small 'm') in the UP of Michigan and am looking for a beautiful and remote place to boondock in the Ottawa National Forest. I have a spot reserved at Presque Isle campground in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park but would like to explore a bit and find a hole in the wall. Here is a map of the area and where I have a campsite. https://goo.gl/photos/suN2jwwHVwpDcpTR7

I would highly recommend you make a stop at the Ottawa National Forest Visitors Center in Watersmeet near the intersection of US-2 and US-45. They have excellent displays, a wealth of info on camp sites and the staff is very
helpful. If you are coming from Lansing you could take US-2 across to Watersmeet. After your stop you could 1) take US-45 to Ontonagon and M-64 to Silver City and M-107 to South Boundary Road and South Boundary Road to Presque Isle CG or 2) take US-45 to Bruce Crossing, M28 to Bergland, M-64 to Silver City, M-107 to S Boundary Road and S Boundary Rd to Presque Isle CG or 3) take US-2 to Wakefield and CR 519 to Presque Isle CG. Try to include Lake of the Clouds and Bond Falls in your itinerary. Have a safe trip and enjoy your stay in the UP.
